A lot has happened since I last posted. I don't have time to write about most of it at the moment but there is good news on the blog front.
I finally found an excuse to put some time into working on a wordpress setup. So I guess this lj account will probably only be used to keep track of the friends I've added over the past years.
I'll be in London for the next couple of weeks and will be posting about it here:

wanted to wait til i had my site redone before I showed anymore art, but I figure it's a little ways off still and I've already got a lot of work saved up. So here's a life drawing I was particularly proud of from my last session. 45 min. charcoal, pastel on 18x24 newsprint.

I've been so busy I've basically forgotten I even had a LJ. I have tons of drawings, a couple of paintings and a new website and blog on the way, but before i post any of that, a slightly disconcerting story from this week:
(apologies for my wordiness)
Tuesday I wake up noticing a pain under the right side of my ribs but I dismiss it as a bad gas pocket or something. I do my regular routine, go to work, and the pain is still there, in fact, even worse. I note this to my copywriter cube-mate friend and another, older friend but they don't think much of it so I let it go. I'm busy the rest of the day but after I get home I go running and the pain is still there. I decide it's probably still just gas or something since I've been eating a lot of spicy food lately so I tough it out. I get home, do some crunches and the discomfort seems to still be there. After I eat dinner I feel the best option is to lie down because I can't even sit at my computer to surf the web and draw.
The next day (Halloween) I wake up, no pain, but after my morning routine I realize the pain is still there and worse. I get to work, and ask a couple people whether they've had their appendix out, so I could gauge the pain I'm having against first-hand experience of appendicitis. Of course, nobody I ask has had the experience, but they all emphasize the gravity and potentially fatal consequences of not going to the doctor to have it checked out. So I called the doctor and explain my symptoms. They wanted me to come in to get it checked out, so I go (Let me preface the rest of the story by telling you I'm a bit of a hypochondriac so the experience to this point is freaking me out quite a bit). The doc prods my appendix region, asks me a lot of questions and concludes that I don't look as bad as one might expect someone with appendicitis to look but thinks I should get a ct scan anyway. They take my blood and give me 2 containers of Barium something-or-other to drink before the scan. So during the time I'm drinking the barium and waiting to get my scan the pain subsides a bit. I'm relieved. I do the scan. (being Halloween you can imagine the whole staff is dressed up. Charlie brown gives me the ct scan. He even has the hair squiggle drawn on his bald head in sharpie. Somehow it adds a little levity to the situation). They inject me with some iodine (reacts with the barium stuff I guess) so they can see what's going on in my guts—turns out I don't have appendicitis!
I was quite relieved, but then I got a phone call this morning from the doctor saying my liver and kidneys are fine but they did see some abnormal fluid in my pelvic region on the scan but will get back to me when they get the full report. Needless to say, I was pretty preoccupied the rest of the day thinking about what might be wrong with me. So If the doctor can't tell me on Friday, I might have to go see a specialist. wtf, mate!
So here's hoping my insurance covered that and any specialist visits in the future and that I DONT have any disease.

So here's what I've been up to. I also took some photography at an air show that came out looking pretty good. I may post some of that later.

and accompanying video of the making of:

Some sketches. I've been drawing from photo reference but this time making sure to really vary the variety. I get stuck into drawing the same things over and over again and I think it's because I'm not familiar with drawing different things. thumbs for painting ideas sprinkled throughout.
Hope I get paid for freelance soon because I think I am going to use some of the money to pay for open life drawing sessions this fall. :D

I haven't been slacking, I'm just more conscious now of how much I suck at art and I'm reluctant to post every little shit-thing I do in my sketchbook. I may post a few of the better ones later on. Until then though I've been working towards a new art blog (goodbye lj soon enough) Anyhow, here are a few things. This I just finished tonight:
Mortal Enemies oil on canvas 19.5 x 23"
If I don't sell it at the show (probably unlikely since the paint will still be wet) I will take a better photo with proper lighting.
Other than that, I was trying to come up with a pattern for the background of my new site and the more and more I worked on it the more elaborate it became. I don't know what I'm going to do with this now. It's a little too detailed for a pattern. Ah well, I'll keep it around and maybe i'll find a use for it someday.

I put my dead moths to use.
I've got a gallery show in August so I'm frantically getting back into the art-thing so I can have enough work ready to fill the space. Other than that life has been on and off suck for a while. I guess I can't complain too much

First stuff i've really sat down and drawn in about a month now excluding some doodling here and there. I forgot that I like to draw! haha

Life's great. A beautiful girl has me smitten. Work loves me. Got freelance coming in (albeit design. illustration someday hopefully...) And the weather is gorgeous.
I hope to keep drawing more—although now that i type that I realize what usually happens when I say stuff like that. I usually don't stick to it and I stop drawing for a month. So strike that. I'm just going to go with the flow.

I found so much kid art at my parents' house last weekend... so funny. Swat-bot raise the roof!
Since everyone seems to be posting artwork I feel left out. Yeah, I haven't drawn in a couple weeks but here's something I didn't scan from a couple weeks ago. first page of my new book (which I made out of the laser disc jacket for "Cobra" and had kinkos spiral bind. Paper is canson pastel paper. I'll take some photos of the book itself sometime soon)
